Mazda’s 6 sedan, redesigned for 2009 with a big boost in power, visited the Roadfly office for a week. We first tested the Mazda 6 in California back in 2009. The car has received some minor updates and is still one of the funnest sport sedans in the mid-size car category.
The new(ish) 6 is quick (0-60 in 6.7 sec.), gets decent fuel economy, and has the enthusiast-preferred shift pattern for its 6-speed automatic. (pull down for upshifts, push up for downshifts).
In the family sedan category, it’s easily the sportiest choice out of the box. However, you can no longer get a manual transmission with the V6, and there is no longer a Mazdaspeed6 in production.
