2018 Audi SQ5 Crossover SUV Review

Pros & Cons What’s New
There’s just something about the Audi driving experience that is so elegant! New performance model for 2018.
There are so many driving & handling adjustments that you can set the car up exactly the way you like to drive. Visit the: Audi SQ5 Car Configurator
The Audi Virtual Cockpit is so good!!! This alone is reason to test drive a Q5.
The Audi MMI infotainment system is still harder to use than it needs to be but you’ll get used to it.
You will get a speeding ticket.

Q. Should I put the Audi Q5 on my car shopping list?
A. It’s a great SUV and with the S package it’s even better, so the answer is yes! If you drive the SQ5 first you might not drive the rest of the SUVs on your list. If you drive it last your decision will be easy! We rated it the #1 best luxury compact SUV for a reason.

Some highlights from my road trip in the SQ5.

As I sat in traffic on Rt. 95 I really missed adaptive cruise control. We were crawling, starting & stopping for a solid hour. It would have been much more enjoyable to let the car handle those tasks. Adaptive cruise control is absolutely worth the price of admission!

The window sticker says the SQ5 is rated at 24 MPG on the highway. My real world driving over 194.5 miles at an average speed of 60 mph yielded a very impressive 28.4 MPG.

The SQ5 has all the luxury you would expect in this segment and also offers performance that is arguably unbeatable. It’s not too tall, it’s not too low making ingress/egress very easy. It’s a very manageable size for small roads and parking lots.

My friend Ryan Douthit from Driving Sports TV put together a very comprehensive video review of the 2018 Audi SQ5.

Charlie is Roadfly’s founder and publisher, and was taught to drive by his father in a 1974 Porsche 914. That made poor Charlie a Porsche fanboy for life, and after driving a 911SC at 16, he bought and campaigned a variety of 944s at racetracks up and down the East Coast, earning awards and track records in his twenties. Charlie never really got over the car bug, and after a career in real estate development he founded the Internet media firm that became Roadfly. Charlie lives in McLean, VA with his wife and two daughters, and between the demands of family and business doesn’t have much time to play with cars anymore, excluding the machinery we review.
