Models

No matter what RAM 1500 model you choose this full-size pickup provides comfort, plenty of room for cargo, and towing capacity. The Tradesman, a two-seat single cab work truck with many of the features found in the other trim levels The Rebel is sportier in design attracting a younger buyer. Big Horn and Long Horn have all the features anyone could want. Laramie has trim levels with added luxurious touches.

Both the Crew Cab and Quad Cab provide seating for up to five full size adults. The Crew Cab’s features a shorter cab with smaller rear doors while the Quad Cab offers four full-size doors that open to an enormous amount of interior space.

Powertrains

RAM’s powerplants have been refined, especially in fuel economy. For 2019 RAM has added a mild hybrid system, called eTorque, in the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 offering it as an option on the HEMI® V-8. The eTorque system combines a belt driven motor generator with a 48-volt battery pack enabling quick and seamless start/stop function and short duration torque addition to the crankshaft in certain driving conditions. An advanced cylinder cutoff system on the 5.7-liter HEMI keeps fuel consumption down while still providing the power of a V-8 when needed. A diesel powerplant has not been announced for the 2019 model year.

RAM 1500 is available in both two and four-wheel drive connected to a new generation TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission providing improved efficiency. Frame-mounted active vibration dampers and active noise cancellation provides a quieter cabin making engine vibrations practically nonexistent.

Technology

While the 2019 RAM’s big attention getter is an optional 12” tablet like screen, the smaller 8.4-inch and 5-inch displays are nothing to dismiss. So be it just the entertainment controls, or expanded navigation and data, you are connected to the world around you through the Uconnect® System connected to your hand-held device or an on-board cellular connection.
Ram understands that in today’s connected world everyone brings a device with them, and sometimes more, all requiring power. Inside the RAM 1500, you will find four advanced USB ports (regular and micro USB, two upfront and two in the rear,) as well as conventional 12v and a converter with 110 v outlets.
RAM uses advanced technology throughout the vehicle with more powerful engine control computers and mechanicals. Such as the engine coolant warming the axle gear oil, maximizing axle efficiency, helping gain better fuel economy.

Build

With fuel economy in mind, building lighter vehicles has led some manufacturers to focus on lightweight materials like carbon fiber, aluminum, and plastic. RAM, on the other hand, has taken to using 98 percent high strength – lightweight steel which improves durability and helps with weight reduction.

Interior

Ram has designed the interior to reward you on short or long trips. Even in the base trim levels, the interior excels with comfortable and supportive seats with ample leg room, plenty of storage space and easy access to controls and gauges. Details like angle cut information for a carpenter molded into the bottom of the center armrest console tray is something you might not notice, but RAM has.

Cargo

The RAM will move most anything. RAM’s maximum payload has increased to 2,300 pounds with a maximum trailer towing weight of 12,750 pounds. The bed in the Ram 1500 has a maximum cargo bed volume of 61.5 cubic feet, with dimensions perfectly sized to hold full 4×8 sheets of plywood, even with the available RamBox® option.

RamBox® is a cargo management system using the wasted space on the flanks of the cargo bed with lockable (available remote access via the key fob) storage bins. Put them to use as a cooler, they have drain holes, put them to use for storing tools, they have optional LED lighting and a 115-volt power outlet (for plugging in chargers and more.)

Pricing

Starting at an MSRP of $31,695 a new 2019 RAM 1500 can easily top out pushing seventy grand with all the options. With factory incentives and other deals, the 2019 RAM is well worth serious consideration due to the amount of engineering that has gone into improving it over the previous generation.
