2019 Jeep Cherokee Overland Review

Pros & Cons Updates for 2019
Just plain easy to drive. It goes the way you want it to, stops the way you want it to and turns the way you want it to. That’s not always the case with their competition. This is the 5th generation of the Jeep Cherokee. The new generation came out in 2013. For 2019 the Cherokee receives mid-life-cycle style and feature updates.
Selec-Terrain traction control / 4WD management system is one of the absolute best systems available adding a lot of safety to the equation. The significant design change is the new front end. The original 5th gen. Cherokee had a pointy, shark/beak like nose which was very polarizing. This new 2019 front end is much better looking.
Wonderful center-stack infotainment system & controls. Very easy to use uConnect system. 150lbs of weight savings for better performance and fuel economy.
The only real con is that Jeep’s reliability isn’t as strong as a couple of their competitors.

Q. Should I put the Jeep Cherokee on my car shopping list?
A. Yes! The Cherokee is a go-anywhere, fully capable mid-size SUV which comfortably seats 4 or 5 passengers.  Jeep’s Selec-Terrain traction control system is one of the best in the business and will enable you to go places you didn’t think were possible. The infotainment system is also one of the best in the business. It sounds silly to say but the Cherokee is just easy to drive. Everything is where it’s supposed to be and things work as expected and that’s not always the case with some of their competition. Definitely add the 2019 Jeep Cherokee to your car or SUV shopping list.

Charlie is Roadfly’s founder and publisher, and was taught to drive by his father in a 1974 Porsche 914. That made poor Charlie a Porsche fanboy for life, and after driving a 911SC at 16, he bought and campaigned a variety of 944s at racetracks up and down the East Coast, earning awards and track records in his twenties. Charlie never really got over the car bug, and after a career in real estate development he founded the Internet media firm that became Roadfly. Charlie lives in McLean, VA with his wife and two daughters, and between the demands of family and business doesn’t have much time to play with cars anymore, excluding the machinery we review.
