Roadfly was founded in 1997 with the purpose and intention of providing a resource for owners, buyers, sellers and enthusiasts of various makes and models of automobiles. Today, Roadfly is one of the largest online automotive resources, attracting more than 1.2 million unique visitors each month and generating more than 35-million page views each month. With more than 10-million pages of message forum posts, our user community is one of the largest in the world.
1997 – Roadfly began as three distinct sites: a BMW portal site, a Porsche portal site, and a BMW message board, affectionately known as “bimmer.org.” The sites served as information repositories, and offered readers services such as: Events calendars, Links, Message Boards, News, and Resources. |
|
August 2000 – Roadfly merged its three individual sites into a single venue. Enhancements were made to the site to improve navigation, user experience and performance. To this day, Roadfly remains one of the fastest performing web sites, despite devouring more than 1.5 terabytes of bandwidth each month. |
|
June 2001 – Roadfly received its first cosmetic overhaul, and along with the revised look came additional functionality by way of a classified sales system, search capabilities and new featured brands, including Jaguar and Lotus. As the site improved, so did traffic and membership. |
|
September 2003 – Roadfly underwent another cosmetic improvement to help further improve the user experience. During this phase, the site was modified to give users easier, more direct access to Roadfly’s magazine, vehicle reviews, buying guides and other resources. Featured and “spotlight” vehicles were given front page promotion. A second generation search engine was designed to provide faster, more accurate results. And in November of 2003… something needs to go here… |

In 2011, we took our biggest step in over a decade by migrating our wide variety of forums to the web’s most widely-used forum software, VBulletin. The change was huge and has certainly taken some getting used to, but in order to keep growing and enhance our functionality it was an absolutely necessary step.
In March of 2014 we underwent a significant redesign to offer a better experience to mobile and tablet users.
As Roadfly continues to grow, we’re working hard to add new features, functionality and services for our readers and sponsors. We have a host of new goodies ready to go, and are excited about what the future holds for everyone at Roadfly.
